Oh my! John Gary owns this song, it is without a doubt the prettiest version I have ever heard.

Met John at Indiana University in 1961 0r 62. Not only was he an outstanding singer, John was an outstanding man. Everyone who knew him still misses him greatly. This music helps in ways but makes his absence become larger once more.

Wow, what a great find. Thanks for putting it out there. I remember growing up in the 60's, wore this song (and Galway bay) out from that great album "A Little Bit of Heaven". I still get teary when I listen to it.

@unclemymy Thanks for sharing that awesome memory and giving her such a beautiful gift. Incredible are the Irish families. My father was the youngest of nine children, and your gift of song is an endearing, "ties that bind" type of sentiment that transcends time. How fitting that the album title this song came from is what all our parents, friends, etc. who loved John Gary's angelic voice are enjoying with him today; in a paradise reserved for all who love our God and His Son. You'll see her again

@scubarulz I agree with Basquelady86 - I don't know which I'm more happy about, finding this song, or reading your wonderful story! My mother passed away just last year, at 83 (an Irish descendent with nine kids). She had no idea I could sing, until 3 years ago, when at 51 I surprised her with this song as a St. Patrick's Day/Birthday present. She cried. Like in your story, this song brings with it one of my most PRECIOUS memories. Thanks for sharing yours.

@nov91946 Thanks for your comment. I've been wanting to visit Singapore for some time. I made some friends from Singapore in a choir festival in my country (The Basque Country - Spain). I was working as an interpreter and they were taking part in the festival. We became very good friends. Amazing people to say the least.
