Lodi

Just about a year ago,

I set out on the road,

Seeking my fame and fortune,

Looking for a pot of gold.

Things got bad, and things got worse,

I guess you will know the tune.

Oh ! Lord, Stuck in Lodi again.

Rode in on the Greyhound,

I'll be walking out if I go.

I was just passing through,

Must be seven months or more.

Ran out of time and money,

Looks like they took my friends.

Oh ! Lord, I'm stuck in Lodi again.

The man from the magazine said I was on my way.

Somewhere I lost connections, ran out of songs to play.

I came into town, a one night stand,

Looks like my plans fell through

Oh ! Lord, Stuck in Lodi again.

Mmmm...

If I only had a dollar, for ev'ry song I've sung.

And ev'ry time I've had to play

While people sat there drunk.

You know, I'd catch the next train back to where I live.

Oh ! Lord, I'm stuck in Lodi again.

Oh ! Lord, I'm stuck in Lodi again.

I couldn't think of a more appropriate song to receive the unplugged treatment. One of the LONELIEST songs ever written. Bravo, John.

where is this Lodi that he sings of? There is one near me, but I doubt that is the one in this song

I learned to play this on my old National guitar by listening to the album so many times it drove my Parents crazy. Ahhhh the 60s.

In the early 1980s John Forgerty was at a club in Berkeley called La Vals, and a folksinger named Will Bluefield was on stage. When the waitress told Will that JF was in the audience, he played "Lodi" to honor his musical hero. Legend has it that hearing Will Bluefield do an acoustic version of the song inspired JF to add the "unplugged" approach to some of his performances.

There will never be another John Fogerty. Beatles were good and sold many records, but even George Harrison once said that they were not a great band.

What a sad comparison level mentality. I love them both. If you can't be moved by 'Accross the Universe' or 'Let it be' then i don't think Fogerty would have much to say to you during lunch.

upt808, Please don't try to compare the Beatles and CCR. he Btles just started the music explosion. then the war in nam on and people like CCR, John Fogerty, Fleetwood mac, Stones, Hendrix, Hendrix stoned, Sorry had to say that, Any way please look at the songs at the time line and put them in order of how it happen. Peace Brother.
