Deja Vu (All Over Again) is a 2004 album by John Fogerty. It was released after the lapse of 7 years from previous studio album Blue Moon Swamp. Originally issued by DreamWorks Records,[5] it was reissued by Geffen Records after it absorbed DreamWorks.

Musical style and sound

Unlike its predecessor, the Southern rock/swamp rock-obsessed Blue Moon Swamp, Deja Vu (All Over Again) hasn't got any unifying lyrical or musical theme. It's very eclectic and varied album in the sound and in the moods. The title track is protest song in 60's-70's folk rock-style, a truly effective effort in drawing parallels between current Iraq war and the Vietnam war. Тhe album also explores Ramones-style punk rock ("She's Got Baggage"), disco/new wave("Radar"), psychedelic/acid rock in the Jimi Hendrix Experience-style ("In the Garden"), and Dire Straits' heritage featuring Mark Knopfler ("Nobody's Here Anymore" within musical citation from "Sultans of Swing"), as well as Fogerty's traditional American roots influences, e.g. old-fashioned rock and roll ("Sugar-Sugar (In My Life)"), the Sun Records-style rockabilly ("Honey Do"), bluegrass ("I Will Walk With You"), country rock ("Rhubarb Pie"), swamp rock ("Wicked Old Witch").

I first heard this song while watching one of Fogerty's recent concerts on TV. Yeah it has throwbacks to CCR (Who'll Stop the Rain, specifically) but as I heard it, and paid more attention, I realized i was hearing a modern day equivalent to the anti-war/protest songs from an earlier era. Much like Neil Young's Living with War album, I appreciated hearing this song since it gave me a sliver of what it must have been like the first time someone from 40 years ago heard, say, "Fortunate Son" or "Ohio" or "Waist Deep in the Big Muddy" and instantly knew what it meant and what it was all (big picture) about.

With all the bitchin about "fortunate son", I thought it was only appropriate to share another Fogerty "war" song, written and sang by a VETERAN, about the "Iraq" war. The album came out in 2004, and I urge all who haven't heard it, to please listen, especially those that remember and fought in Vietnam.

ESTA MÚSICA, DEJA VU (ALL OVER AGAIN) DE JOHN FOGERTY É MAIS UM E ATUAL ALERTA À HUMANIDADE SOBRE OS EFEITOS MALÉFICOS DA SUA AUTO-DESTRUIÇÃO.O GRANDE VOCALISTA ESTÁ DE PARABÉNS PELA CONTRIBUIÇÃO ATRAVÉS DA SUA ARTE, DEMONSTRANDO ACIMA DE TUDO SENTIDO DE MATURIDADE.

I hadn't heard this in awhile. It's brilliant. "Did you stop to read the writing on the wall?"
