I think this is the perfect song for his life/death. He died in or near the water, and a couple of times he says "sunshine on the water looks so lovely" ... OMG, I would love to talk to him about WHY. Maybe I can someday, when I am gone also. He and a couple of others (Janis is one, also Jim Morrison) ; and, of course, my ancestors who have passed before me. BUT, I was flying back from Long Beach on the day John D. took that plunge into the ocean. I did not see it, but I will always remember that day. Coming back from my sister's wedding, it just sticks in my mind.
