Lovely song. John always had a yearning in his voice, something unfulfilled. A great talent gone too soon

I wonder who the people who disliked this treasure are. Come on! Wash your ears and your souls.

A love song of great beauty but also sadness. You feel it in his singing and see it in his face. How tragic his love for Annie brought such conflict and pain. A genius with troubled soul who left us many treasures that shine with humanity and love. I prefer this solo, which is more heart-felt and personal, than the duet with Domingo who I feel, is too dominant. . .

He stated on a video that this song was written for his audience... although it is perfect for a sweetheart.

First heard this song played at the Memorial for John in Aspen, a week after he died. It may actually have been taken from this recording, it was just John singing with his guitar.

Annie has stated in more than one interview that this is her favorite song by John. I can see why. This was recorded so soon after their separation; you can just see the pain in his heart as he sings. Thank you for posting this!!!

In my 20s I had all the John Denver Albums, I loved him so much, but I forsake him in the following years.. now, I'm 65 and wonder why I did that? I don't know, but I found him again now after all those years have passed.. He was still alive when I loved him, I'm sorry he's gone, but I remember now after listening again after all those years, why I loved him.. he was pure and clean and touched my heart even at my young age then, his songs still bring tears to my eyes when I am old.. Can't beat that ;)

Have loved this song for a long time but discovered this video just today. Much prefer John's solo performance here to the much posted concert performance with Placido Domingo. However, the one with PD did offer up a new factoid: this song was written with John's mother in mind. (start at 5m7s for the song alone) <3

(3 of 3) We all face storms in our lives. Will the basic structure of one’s life stay intact through the midst of the storm? It is all about foundations. If the foundation is strong, the structure will stay intact. If the foundation is not strong, the structure will be swept away. Relationship structures are often the most important structures in our lives. Again, see the Rock and Storm parable in Matthew 7:24-27 (h t t p : / / g o o .g l/0khU6l) (remove spaces)

(2 of 3) Nevertheless, in the process of drawing conclusions as to the reasons behind the break-up of John Denver’s first marriage to Annie, one should not overlook the unimaginable pressures that his concert schedule placed upon the relationship. Everyone should take a moment to view the concert schedule over the years, up to this point in 1982 when he gave this interview. (See: h t t p : / / g o o .g l/Ki8Ecb) (remove spaces)

(1 of 3) The reference Mr. Douglas made to the benefits of the Master-Student relationship that should exist between Jesus Christ and every heaven bound soul should not be so quickly brushed aside. Everyone should factor this into the success equation of their own life. See the Rock and Storm parable in Matthew 7:24-27 (see: h t t p : / / g o o. g l/0khU6l) (remove spaces)

How could JD write a song on the piano if he doesn't play the piano?? I've heard him play piano, and he didn't suck at it.

Hard to believe. Had he lived, John would be almost 70 y/o. Seems like I heard "Country Roads" for the 1st. time.

I miss John so much. Even after 16 years I still cant believe he is gone and I get reminded of that fact every year on my birthday October 17 which was the day that his funeral memorial was held. I was in Monterey CA the day he had his accident. I am 51 and I love his music. Ted Vigil carries on johns legacy today. He is currently on Tour with Steve Weisberg in various venues throughout the US.
