Agree with you JoeD about the horns especially the sax. IMO the less orchestration the better when John sang. Loved Dick and Mike as backup and some of his early band like Steve Weisberg were great and made a wonderful contribution but later on some of the changes he made didn't help only hurt. Hated the way he sped up Rocky Mountain High and did not care for Machito Sanchez heavy over-the-top percussion. Do love Pete Huttlinger. He did a wonderful job backing John up in his later years.

@1bol390I know what you are talking about replicating the studio performance to the live audience. I didn't like the horn with John's voice ...piano, guitar, orchestra, fine, but not the flute. Yeah I was thinking the same thing about those posters.

@JoeD60 JD Could have done these songs solo and it would have sounded GREAT! But I think the "flute" was added to match the songs as recorded on the album, not sure about the SAX though, that song "Like A sad song" didn't have a Sax as I recall. : )

Can I vent here? Is it just me or are there others? I've always wanted to shove that horn up that guys.. NO other instrument was needed. John Denver had that strong kind of take charge mastery over music.
