I have always been a fan of John Cooper Clarke as i just love his poetry. He really does "Say it as it is". An amazing man who is very much respected and admired all over the world.

I find this offensive...I really did marry a monster from outer space and I am so tired of the speciesism we deal with every day.

you, sir, are an idiot. JCC (whose initials you can't even spell right) is great, but this has got nothing to do with rapping. I enjoy both, and feel sorry for narrowminded jerks like you, who are too caught up in the idea of expressing their personalities through cultural preferences to just enjoy great art regardless of cultural or other connotations.

"How can you even fucking compare the two!!!!?" Rhythmic poetry sometimes spoken over music. There's the comparison. Common? KRS-One? Both artists with words.

Actually 'rapping' was 'created' [for lack of better term] at lower NYC and Brooklyn urban summer parties in the early 1970's. Scratching records and the like was also started around the same time by backyard party DJ's with mics. It started with rhythmic poetry to introduce new songs and evolved into people just speaking in rhyme and rhythm over instrumentals. Probably around '73-'74 during the time of Pub Rock in the UK. Punk did not start Rap.
