Of all the music that I have listened to in my 56 year long life,Rock and Roll Animal is my most often played Album, hands down.

Interesting approach. I don't feel it comes even close to the disintegrating majesty of the original, though.

John Cale - If You Were Still Around (Official Video)A certain eeriness is captured by this track making the hairs on the back of neck stand on end.....The robust voice brings a powerful quality to the track......The music is superb......The poignant lyrics reminds us of the Velvet Underground and also Songs for Drella - as we recall was with Lou Reed - where these two members of the Velvet Underground honour Andy Warhol ......Here also we see John Cale honouring and remembering Lou Reed as we see the publication of this special beautiful track took place on the 27th Oct precisely 1 year to the day that Lou Reed RIP passed away This is a powerful track that deals with the sad reflections of a member of the Velvet Underground adjusting to the sad loss of Lou Reed .....It brings a lump to the throat as we search within our own Christian thoughts as to how much more the feeling of loss must be for John Cale and the atmospheric qualities chill the spine as if we can sense the essence of presence in a strange sort of way through this music...... It is not the first time that we sense this hauntingly strange sensation with John Cale’s work. We sense too that not only do we experience a feeling that John Cale is in what can almost be described as in "communication" with an almost tangible powerful presence of members of the Velvet Underground and with Andy Warhol's (Drella) factory, we sense he is honouring Lou Reed in particular and to a certain extent Andy Warhol, Nico and Sterling Morrison and even a wider range of memories that encompassed those that were part of Andy Warhol's golden circle ie Eddie Sedgwick for they were inextricable components of John Cales past and present life......John Cale must be grappling with the beautiful memories of the fulfilment of a fantastic dream to have been part of this iconic band and to have shared an exciting existence with such iconic figures as Lou Reed, Andy Warhol, Nico, Sterling and now - now he is doing what he knows best; honouring Lou Reed and everybody else with this fitting wonderful piece of work which reflects well the genius elements we encounter in this fine musician. Thanks to doublesixrecords for the interesting video and for this sad yet magnificent work of art.

A un año de la muerte de Lou Reed, su excompañero en The Velvet Underground, John Cale, lo recordó con un nuevo tema: "Ir you were still around". Escuchalo acá:

Nice tribute to absent friends, I supose. It's the 'Music For A New Society' version that chills my spine though. Too much superflous adornment here obscuring a heartbreaking, dark (and scary) song. Imagine 'Holocaust' remixed by Pet Shop Boys? Why isn't 'MFANS' yet regarded as one of the greatest albums of all time (or even the equal of 'Paris 1919')?

Nico, Sterling and Lou are gone. Who will be the last? Moe, John or Yule?
