I remember this band from my youth, growing up in the 80s. Took some memory jogging, though. I had to hear this song recently in the movie Ping Pong Summer (great little movie that's all heart, you all should check it out) and, for a second, was ashamed I'd forgotten all about John Cafferty & The Beaver Brown Band. But only for a second, as I soon was too awash in awesome 80s nostalgia for unhappiness or guilt...plus the song still holds up today musically and lyrically. I see someone mentioned Bruce...can definitely hear that in the lyrics. Always thought "On the Darkside" sounded like Bruce vocally, too.

Great song, great times. Thanks for posting, sounds as great as it did when I first heard it in 1986 on Stereo Soul 89.9

I remember hearing this on my car radio in the summer of '85 while driving to my girlfriends house after work and CRANKING IT ALL THE WAY UP!

Geez, this still sounds so darn good. It was half a lifetime ago when this song got played occasionally on one of the local LA rock stations, and I haven't heard it more than a few times since. Back then, in my late 20's, i understood from the outside as best I could and was sympathetic to the message in the lyrics. But now, even though I don't want to I am living it. "There's just no words to say, it's tough to swallow your pride, each and every day." Yet this music makes me feel hopeful.
