Well, as with all music it comes down to personal preference. Both are excellent guitarists, not gonna argue there!

It is true that Buckethead can shred, but that is a very small amount of all he can do. Buckethead has styles of music of all different Genres and Tempos. Now I think that this could also be said about John 5, I'd only argue that perhaps Buckethead does it a little better, given that I think he has more of a range of music, specifically when it comes to Acoustic Music or Percussive Techniques.

@terminatoreye6243 have to disagree there, buckethead has a range of devastating songs if you search hard enough, coz he put out so many random albums every year you might lose track of the gems he created along the way.
