I'm fascinated by the fact that this was an interracial band before the civil rights movement really got going. I can't imagine what issues they must have faced. It's also interesting that Joey, an Italian kid "from the neighborhood" put THIS band together and had success with it.

Great memories- Joey Dee and the Starlighters had everyone from 3 to 103 twistin' and singing when it came out. And those 103 year olds stayed alive so they could twist some more. Heck, now they're twistin' in Heaven!
