Whenever I listen to these live cuts of Joe with the Mescaleros it just heightens my appreciation for Mick Jones and his guitar playing. The Mescaleros need two guitarists to reproduce the sound that Mick generated by himself! And even with two guitarists they still don't play the songs quite the way Mick wrote them.

From an old fart who saw the Clash on numerous occasions and met Joe in the Summer of 1981 during a Charles & Diana Party, he was and still is the most remarkable man I've ever seen perform or met. Enjoy any live footage of him and how he motivated his fellow band members.

Saw Joe Strummer back in the late 80s in Aberdeen, on his `Rock Against the Rich` tour, in front of maybe 200 people at the most. Without doubt, the best gig i have ever been to.

they could be singing "SUCK MY ASS" and it wouldn't make a bit of difference. This is just all kinds of beautiful and we are fortunate to be able to take it in here. Much appreciation for the post!! :)

Its such a shame that The Mescaleros couldn't even get the proper backing vocals right. Its not "Hey, Ho", its "Where'd you go" This is a simply amazing song and its a shame The Mescaleros couldnt do it justice and get the frickin lines right. It makes me wish for the days of the clash again.

My all time favourite band are the Jam and I look to Weller as one of my main idols but he's too stuck up. Joe loved the crowd, and always played the Clash classics because he aswell as the crowd loved them. I wish I had the chance to see Strummer live. I was only 7 when he died, now am 17. All i can do is prove to myself what i've learnt from him. Never forgotten <3
