Yeah ! I think it also might be that you like the guy you hear first and grow up with. I heard Vai way before I ever heard of joe, so I've learnd much more from him and I can feel and understand his music much more. At first I thought joe he was quite booring but I slowly got into it, and now he's one of my fave haha :) But no, I have to disagree that they play simular things :/ I've seen them both live and it's not the same at all. Oh well big deal haha ! :)

It's interesting that their gifts and expression are so close to each others' (Joe and Steve). The beauty of online venues is that I would never have been exposed to Steve Vai if I hadn't been a huge fan of Joe. I could listen to both of them all day long. Joe's melodies stay with me longer, but I love Steve's voice.
