I also heard of Joe Lovano for the first time on Youtube playing some pop thing. I wrote him off. I am so impressed though with this. You hear this, if you know this, and then you know what is inside his mind. Truly a talent and he represented what? At least 90 years of harmonic and textural playing, Hmmmm - literally a harmonic tour of the last century here for me. My first record EVER - was Coleman Hawkins and Ben Webster - then Stan Getz. And this is crazy ok? It's all three combined. Never heard anything quite like this.

I didn't know that side of Joe, that he could do that harmonically. I am very impressed - the man has reached all the way down to Coleman Hawkins and Ben Webster with this, and combined it with Stan Getz. We know what he can do with pop. I have to lay down serious respect now for Joe. That was absolutely beautiful in every way, texture, tone, harmonics, lines, phrasing, Joe's knows what he did here. The man is a talent.
