So apparently in this song Joe had a girlfriend who went to rob a house, she came in through the bathroom window armed only with a spoon (Haha) and she was caught, now she's "sucking her thumb wandering by the banks of her own lagoon" which means she is in prison thinking hard about her wrong deeds right? While in relationship, she lied to her boyfriend that she was a dancer working in many clubs every day and he knew that she was a criminal but couldn't say that in her face. Now they only get to talk to each other through the prison glass by the phone on Tuesday. This is how I understood this song, I don't know if I'm right.

Il programma si chiamava A come Avventura a cura di Bruno Modugno. Era un cult per l'epoca.

This song was inspired by a true story, when a group of Apple Scruffs fans came in to the Mc Cartney's St. John's home, using a ladder found in the garden and stuck it up at the bathroom window, which he left slightly open. They raided the Mc Cartney's wardrobe of a pair of trousers, which they took turns wearing... They even stole photographs and other personal stuff owned by the Beatles member, retrieved afterwards...Anyways, this was the origin of one of the most successful song of The Beatles, but not the one they sung in the 1969's album "Abbey Road", mostly because of the mighty cover sung by the great Joe Cocker.
