Lyrics:

If God had a name, what would it be

And would you call it to his face

If you were faced with him in all his glory

What would you ask if you had just one question

And yeah yeah God is great yeah yeah God is good

yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah

What if God was one of us

Just a slob like one of us

Just a stranger on the bus

Trying to make his way home

If God had a face what would it look like

And would you want to see

If seeing meant that you would have to believe

In things like heaven and in jesus and the saints and all the prophets

And yeah yeah god is great yeah yeah god is good

yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah

What if God was one of us

Just a slob like one of us

Just a stranger on the bus

Trying to make his way home

He's trying to make his way home

Back up to heaven all alone

Nobody calling on the phone

Except for the pope maybe in rome

And yeah yeah God is great yeah yeah God is good

yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah

What if god was one of us

Just a slob like one of us

Just a stranger on the bus

Trying to make his way home

Just trying to make his way home

Like a holy rolling stone

Back up to heaven all alone

Just trying to make his way home

Nobody calling on the phone

Except for the pope maybe in rome

Great song. GOD is Great, GOD is Good. He is Love and wants all of us, His earthly children, to abandon our worldly and sinful ways and return to Him.

People in the comment section saying that God doesn't exist or is stupid and that people who believe in that "shit" are idiots. All of that in a music video with obvious religious connotations... because logic.

Live Love Life

I finally see the wisdom in this song after many years of wonderment. The man-made God is indeed one of us, or maybe a couple hundred of us, probably residing in Switzerland and the Vatican for the most part, using magic stolen out of ancient Egypt (Kemet) to keep the rest of us in a subservient position for generations, if not longer. This system has to fall soon, people are figuring it out and rising above the spell/ curse.

Stop blaming God for your problems people.its either because you deserve punishment or its a test.Anyway most of bad things out there can be changed by people, who just have to take actions, good deeds etc.If they wont change then pray they will but dont accuse God of anything.

I have just watched an interview with Stephen Fry about the meaning of life which saddened me.I like this particular song by Joan Osbourne because it rightfully proclaims that God is good and God is great. God does indeed take away suffering and pain if asked in all sincerity when the end result is right for us. As human beings it is tempting to think that God should just come and cure every illness and take away death. We may want everyone we love to stay alive, but sometimes we have to lose people in order to fight for what is right. There are huge companies who are systematically poisoning us and our world and that is going to have consequences.Lorna Byrne in her books Angels in my Hair and Stairways to heaven states that we chose a life paths before we are born. As hard as it is for us to understand, some children agree to a life where they will die young in order that they may help their parents and other souls grow as they know that this life is only temporary and our souls live on. Sometimes people need to lose things in order to make changes to the way they treat people, to what they value what is important in lives rather than wasting time on things that are not. Sometimes loss helps people reach into their souls and go above and beyond what they thought they were capable of and make their lives a service to humanity. By helping others such as grieving mothers to knife crimes, successful charities that emerge or wives of armed service men who go on and raise money through discovering their gifts in a choir. New blessings are made through loss when groups and friendships form from love and support of others who can relate to your pain. The lessons that loss offer us are just as valuable as the gift of love and receiving. Only God knows what is right for each individual at each given moment so we shouldn't question - we should just trust that He knows what He is doing with different peoples journeys.Everything God gives to us is good - what truly matters is how we perceive it and what we learn from it. Some peoples suffering is necessary though. Mine was in order that I should truly learn to change my ways, so I learnt to avoid the negative consequences of my actions. When I changed my words and deeds I created better outcomes when I had God in mind to monitor my thinking and motives. Sometimes we learn best from loss, sometimes we see that mass change is needed to prevent future losses. We should always look at what was naturally given to us and then what variables we have added to the mix to change the end results. When we poison nature, we poison the garden that feeds us and the medicine that heals us.It is humanity that brings in all manner of sufferings from failing to balance knowledge with wisdom and our failure to ask for help - not God. We corrupt the original blueprint, we corrupt nature. We see with our small eyes and vision and small knowledge. We interfere in things that only God sees the true rippling and unseen effects of all that we change. Where He created life for living, it is a joy for God to give and to create - to think He is evil and enjoys watching us suffer is to completely fail to know God and His character. The god of this world is a temporary god, the god of all suffering which is Satan, but he can only live if we invite him in and we act in accordance with his ways and that is exactly what we have done. He is a consciousness that works through us and our failure to listen to the true God and his warnings.God brings true peace, healing, love and abundance. He gives new life, beauty, free gifts and many great pleasures but they deserve and need respect. God will come and wipe away all suffering and every tear when the people are willing to ask Him in to help with a heart that is ready to embrace the best loving and giving relationship you could ever wish to find. The true Almighty interferes very little in this world unless asked. He will not interfere with human free will to chose their own path and if our free will walks stubbornly refusing help, then we must be prepared for short sighted consequences which too often result in pain. We have to invite God in from our hearts the way we would invite any good friend with kindness and respect.God would be a foolish parent to act before the time and conditions of the heart are right. Only when a true change of heart, coupled with the right attitude will Gods actions be of any help to us. When we learn treat others the way we would wish to be treated and think about all that means. When we learn to treat the planet and all the beautiful and wondrous gifts upon it with respect and wisdom. He would be a foolish God, like a foolish parent, to come in and keep cleaning up the messes we make, only to go on and allow us to continue in harmful actions without us ever learning and changing. Like any worthwhile relationship - the value only comes when appreciation and thanks are given. Even when we don't realize it God is already going around and fixing so much of what we break.People abuse others and gifts when they are not thankful and deeply thoughtful about what they have and how lucky they are to have them. Many of the wisest souls are those that have lost much and they wouldn't trade their suffering because their experience brought them to a place of wisdom which is priceless.God is long suffering at watching what we are capable of doing to each other and scooping up the hurt and wounded, whilst watching us carry on in arrogant folly, casually abusing and destroying all the good gifts He gives to us. Gifts that we would not have a clue how to recreate, so deserve reverence and respect. But as ever and He is patient and forgiving up to the point where He will have no choice but to act if we refuse to change. You need a two way relationship for the fruits of a good relationship to be honored. He promises all the good things of a peaceful world, a beautiful and abundant world for all of us to SHARE - but we all have to work within a framework of good human characteristics in order for that to be realized. Trusting His knowledge for our lives because He knows how to get there but it is a two way thing. We get out what we put in.We can blame God for for cursing us with lung cancer, but it is us who creates the cigarettes and us who chooses to smoke the cigarettes or pollute other peoples air. He creates a body that copes with things as long as it does and serves us incredibly well considering all the abuse and pressures we put on them. We can blame God for bone cancer in children, but God gives life and love because He is good - He wants to see us live, but He can't make us see sense if we don't want to. We have to be willing to see where we went wrong for that to change the outcome for future generations.God never designed the world to be filled with toxins, chemicals, electromagnetic interference from our unnatural habits. He created perfection and harmony. We and our ancestors interfered with and corrupted the program that was perfection. We mess with our DNA and our environment and then expect the results to stay the same? Cause and effect has consequences - so many things we mess with that we have not respected and not understood the implications of our meddling. One day we will see the injustice and how extremely ungrateful we are to even begin to blame God for all the sufferings we have brought to a place which He created with so much love and in pristine condition. Yet He still extends that invitation of love to every single one of us and is willing to wipe the slate clean if we are willing to change. That is love and that is a good God. Isaiah 25:8, Proverbs 10:1, Isaiah 8:21, Psalm 58
