People always like to think of country music as being so backwards as compared to rock, but it was really rock music that was sexist. The country music industry always gave opportunities to women while in rock music they were shut out, and if you listen to records made by Rod Stewart or the Rolling Stones, rock music was pretty misogynistic.

And i really like that old grey whistle show, Joan and Lita, especially Lita, was looking good in that, maybe it's me but chicks look hot holding guitars,from what i understand not everybody in rock hated them, Led Zepplelin loved them and for a while when John Paul Jones quit for a while, Robert Plant wanted Lita to join LZ on bass!

Yeah, it was pretty shitty the way they were treated, the Runaways were a little before my time but i heard " I love rock n roll" back then as a kid and i probably wouldn't be a rock or metal fan if i hadn't, to me, it would be a boring bullshit sausage fest if women weren't involved, i been to extreme metal shows where ladies were in the bands and luckily haven't seen that, it's just like in a job if it's all guys and no girls there, it fucking sucks!

the funny thing is, half or more of the female artists could outdo any male counterpart by miles. Yet they were treated as 2nd rate. I grew up listening to Joan Jett, Lita Ford, heart and a ton of others and while big names like AC/DC and Kiss were lorded for being the best ever, These women were doing the same thing sometimes better.

I've always liked Joan Jett and have much respect for her, but is it me or does she seem like she's high as a kite in this interview? Even if she is or not I still like her and respect her. I don't mean that question in a bad negative way, as the old saying goes Sex, Drugs and Rock N Roll.
