This sound is low quality because it was extracted from the second LongPlay of Joan Baez (Volume 2), originality of 1961. I do my best but I didn't get to remove the noises. Sorry!

The Argentinean version of that LP was release by Del Repertorio Vanguard in 1961 and received the subtitle "Old Blues". Apart from that, it is exactly equal to the American North version.

Joan's version is so superior to any others. More plaintive and more believable.

This brings back such wonderful memories. My long lost friend Kay and I would play this endlessly in her little flat in Highgate, London. Darling Kay even learned to play the 5 string banjo - inspired by this track.

1961 - Joan Baez released "Joan Baez, Vol. 2." It included this track which she had originally recorded in 1959 for the album Folksingers 'Round Harvard Square, the first album to feature her.#dapimusic #mymusichangout #folkmusic #joanbaez #onthisday #onthisdate

Look and you will find her 1959 version on rare album issued when she was underage. Also, many other artists such as Clarence Ashley and Doc Watson, Blue Sky Boys, maybe Johnny Cash. Note two versions of line 2. Baez' is the one that rhymes mine and entwine.

How I wish it were a better quality, but thank you so much still. This will always be my favorite version of this song.

Joan's repertoire has always been outstanding. She takes a song and turns it into something sublime. She is true artist.
