Sitting here on a rainy day listening to the old songs - love Jo Stafford and remember when I was young and foolish, falling in and out of love with each summer.

In an interview once, Jo Stafford was asked what kind of a show she was going to put on. She imply replied, nicely, that she's a singer and doesn't put on shows. With her voice, a show wasn't necessary. She and her magical voice were the show. Thank you, Chowchilla, for Jo Stafford!

I believe it was Billie Holiday, who was a fan, said that Jo Stafford sang in the center of each note. Her pitch was that perfect.

You are very welcome. This music is from an era that will never be duplicated, In my opinion. The sweetness is absent from today's female singers and is replaced by technology and what pop culture dictates. It's such a shame. Thank goodness this timeless music is still available. Thanks so much for listening! Jim

Pure velvet, perhaps if some of today's young singers would stop and listen and perhaps revive some of these wonderful songs maybe we would be a little kinder to them, but then again, we of a certain age were spoilt for choice. ..thanks a million for keeping 'real music' alive...

Miss Jo brings such warmth and sincerity to every song she ever sang. There's a certain indefinable quality to her voice that puts her out on her own. Being brought up in London I saw many great singers at the Palladium like Johnny Ray,Guy Mitchell and so on but Miss Jo was never booked during this time-the mid fifties-to my eternal regret
