A Living Legend. Probably, with the entirety of his long singing life/career/and volume of his library of music-but especially his amount of performances-to date and still going, the actual greatest Reggae singer ever-in my opinion.

Jimmy Cliff a bercé mon enfance et continue de le faire. Quelle constance dans le travail, qu'elle inspiration. A quand un concert au Cameroun ? tu as de nombreux fans ici.

Sam Phiri. True that about us in Zambia. I am almost 50 now. I listened to Jimmy Cliff's music when I was 12 years old way before I ever heard of Bob Marley. I watched Jimmy live in Kitwe in the 80's. I respect both Jimmy and Bob. They have contributed so much to the world through their love and their realness and their positive messages through their music... Great talent, great delivery.

Elsewhere I wrote that here in Zambia we knew of Jimmy Cliff first before that "other" Jamaican called Bob Marley, somebody responded that I was "mad". Perhaps that is so. But that is a fact, we only came to know of Bob after the album Buffalo Soldier, shortly after, he was Chief Guest at the Independence celebrations of Zimbabwe on 18 April 1980. That is the closest he came to Zambia, but Jimmy has visited Zambia at least twice.
