The "Son of a Son of a Sailor" reference suggests it's after about 1978, but it couldn't be too much after. I saw him right after the Volcano album came out (late 1979? very early 1980?), and it isn't after that. Some dedicated parrot head should look at the history of his tour dates...

Makes me remember the Softshell Crab Po'boy on Navarre Beach Fla. This was in the early 2000's. I don't know what the beach is like now, but back then this was the only Pub on the beach. The menu consisted of what came in on the truck that morning. So each of the days I showed up at this bar, over the period of several weeks (about every other day), and asked for the crab sandwich, the molting blue crab had come in on the truck that morning. The Keep said the odds of that were phenomenal. He said I should try my luck at gambling. I did. It didn't work out......... Hey Jack, Ol' Buddy! I'm stuck in Vegas. If you read this, send me planefare back to Pensacola and I'll cut your grass for a year! MS

He looks great with that mustache, why in the world did he shave it off? I love his music as it so great. My favorite is "Why don't we get drunk" and you know the rest.

He's become very commercialized but I still like most of his older music, it's one of a kind.

early Buffet, first 5 lp's.. The rest (most of it) sucks.. And I've been with his music since 73 and was stationed in KW in 71-72 when he was living down there..

I'm guessing the uploader isn't going to reply. Since the album Buffett's touring in support of at the time of this interview is never mentioned it's kind of hard to figure out. One big clue is the mention of the Manatee Committee, which was created in 1981. Though I'm not sure if that is when the interview was actually conducted or not.

I sort of agree. Only thing is, a lot of the Parrothead crowd are extremely touchy about Buffett's transition from this time period to when the whole Parrothead thing took hold. Like it or not, it definitely changed the trajectory of his career (as well as music) and not necessarily for the better.

Thank you so much for posting this! I miss this guy. I wish he hasn't gotten so popular. Now he's just another rich old white guy.
