I think I posted this here several years ago, you are correct GP that Jim and Chet did not want to release this song originally because they thought it was too much of a "novelty" song, but what makes this song's history interesting is that Jim recorded it at the same session he recorded his biggest hit "He'll Have to Go", October 15, 1959. Also, I believe this song was released in the winter of 1966-1967, I know I was a Freshman in high school when I first heard it.
