I've been up and down and around and round and back again

Been so many places I can't remember where or when

And my only boss was the clock on the wall and my only friend

Never really was a friend at all

(CHORUS)

I've traded love for pennies

Sold my soul for less

Lost my ideas in that long tunnel of time

And I've turned inside out and around about and back and then

Found myself right back where I started again

Once I had myself a million, now I only got a dime

Difference don't seem quite as bad today

With a nickle or a million I was searching all the time

For something that I'd never lost or left behind

(REPEAT CHORUS)

Well now I'm in my second circle and I'm heading for the top

I learned alot of things along the way

I'll be careful while I'm climbing cuz it hurts alot to drop

When your down nobody gives a damn anyway

(REPEAT CHORUS)

I think it is really sad that not many today even know what True Artists(in every sense ) like Jim Croce were/are , beautiful , meaningful songs that come from the heart. You just don't see much of that anymore! People seem to be into (so called ) performers who are mistakenly called artist!

The only problem is, there isn't enough video of him and Maury.

Just over a 100,00 views, it should have easily surpassed a billion views by now, I guess I'm just one of a few left that can appreciate this wonderful music from a very talented man that died tragically over 40 years ago, he'll always be alive as long as I'm here on this earth.

How appropriate to hear this song on his birthday.

This is the second version of this gem. The first was from Jim and Ingrid's Bombs Over Puerto Rico album.

Thank you to the Jill Soloway and the creators of Amazon's Transparent! I just started watching the pilot episode and educated myself on the life and work of Jim Croce. This song (among his other more popular hits) is a true gem; his guitar and lyrics bring chills down my spine.

Croce's best song - not any doubt about it. And a great song by any measure.

Sad that some musicians today have hundreds of millions of views while the truly talented are forgotten pieces of history.
