Ok, finally someone mentions the movie thunderroad. I liked the slowness of the song, it worked well with the song. Even though it's kinda morbid, I like the ending of the song. Moonshine! Moonshine! To quench the devils thirst! The law they never got him, cause the devil got him first.

Movie version of song is the best. Mitchum's '60s version too canned. Little known movie, but one of best of genre. Country folks portrayed well as something other than Hollywood cardboard rednecks. Check out Japanese Arisaka rifle at dad's still. Was this a souvenir the old guy picked up during WWII? Little details like that made film better. I'm in my late 20's and this is one of my favorite movies.
