This is my love song & so it just became apparent to me the other day after 15 yrs!........1999 I first laid eyes on this adorable young man in my class at College. I was so excited to hear he was in the fine arts program like myself. We were young aspiring artists! Gawd he was cute! I was 21 yrs old and he 20. Later that day it was pouring rain. I was driving my first car and I saw him walking from the college in the rain with his portfolio....I pulled over and offered him a ride...he politley declined. I told him "get in." He did....thus became a yr of friendship and courting....we were married 6 yrs later and a yr later we had our 1st daughter Madeline 6 and now Charlotte 2.5. .. 15 yrs later (2 days ago) gutting the spare room to make a kids playroom and we stumbled across a box of letters between him and I. We read them together and it brought tears to our eyes and brought us even closer !.....for a moment in time, it was just him and I again in the world we created with these four hands together.....The very first letter I wrote him was on Dec 5th 1999 (before cell phones, text or internet) We had none.....The letter....I read it to him.....and I read I knew then we were meant for each other then and even more so now when we read it. The second page of the letter was the entire lyrics for this song...Painters. And we were both emotional once again because the song depicts our life...from start , mid way and confident the same for the finish :(...Him and I are the luckiest people alive. We shared that song in front of a fire on a rug one night in 1999.....but that's between us ;) We were destined to find each other and never lost sight of the strength of our love for too long over the yrs, the power of our love will last until death. I never believed in soul mates until I met him. I wish the same for all those who want it. Love this man more than any one could understand. This song paints the picture for him and I and it has since before we even committed. lovers til death...Painting our lives lovely..

I bought the 'Pieces Of You' album in the late 1990's,but I haven't heard it for a while.I was reminded of this song recently-I had almost forgotten how beautiful it is.It is a wistful,melancholy song,beautifully written and performed with passion.The combination of the strings and her haunting voice and lyrics (at 3:45) are just so moving.
