Jethro Tull - Fylingdale Flyer 1981

Through clear skies tracking lightly from far down the line

No fanfare, just a blip on the screen

No quick conclusions, now everything will be fine

Short circuit glitch and not what it seems

Flyingdale flyer, you're only half way there

Green screen liar for a second or so we were running scared

(Instrumental)

On late shift, feeling drowsy eyes glued to the display

Dead cert alert, lit match to the straw

One last quick game of bowls, we can still win the day

Fail safe forget the things that you saw

Flyingdale flyer, you're only half way there

Green screen liar for a second or so we were running scared

(Instrumental)

They checked the systems through and they read a okay

Some tiny fuse has probably blown

Sit back, relax and soon it will just go away

Keep your hands off that red telephone

Flyingdale flyer, you're only half way there

Green screen liar for a second or so we were running scared

Flyingdale flyer, you're only half way there

Green screen liar for a second or so we were running scared

(Instrumental)

Ian, I know you're never going to read this, but, on the one in ten thousand billion chance that you do....Dude, you rock. You must have balls the size of Io to play the flute in a Rock band. But, it works so well that I've been a fan since 1986.( You would not believe the deep core memory searching I had to do just now to figure out when I first heard Jethro Tull. I couldn't give you an exact day, but I know it was late October of the year I went back to Oregon after my parents divorced On the plane to Oregon I first heard the soundtrack for Cats ( which shaped some of my bizarrely eclectic taste for music) for the first time, In Oregon my brother introduced me to Jethro Tull, Pink Floyd, Rush, and Styx ( Before that my favorite song was "Mindbender" by Stillwater.) And it absolutely had to be before November 5th, because on that trip my sister decided that she needed to move to Indiana and, after a long debate with the Airline whose name I couldn't even begin to remember but they were flying DC-10s in 1986, I got tasked with accompanying my sister on a five day road trip ( hauling a U-Haul trailer behind a 1976 Plymouth Duster ( and before anyone asks, yes, it still had the little Roadrunner sticker on the back) to get from Portland to Indianapolis, and that year I started my Junior year of High School, which started on November 5th, and I nearly had to miss the first day of school because we arrived in Indy well after mid-night, and I almost couldn't wake up.)Of course, this all depends on just how much we can trust our memories. All of this is absolutely fact to me,but, is it? +Baud Bits Want to weigh in?

I've seen Tull so many times but I missed the "A" tour. Sadness pursues. :)
