Rutheford Wakeman and Howes music was very similar too. But no one was, or is now even remotely similar to Jethro Tull and the Music they created.

In and out of the back door ran, one front door angel ... her hair was a golden brown ... she smiled and I think she winked her eye ....

It's stupid how long I stared at this photo, the "back" of the original LP (or was it inside)? One of the greatest concerts I've ever seen, and they played this, in Hershey Park in 1975. Freaking greatest rock guitarist of all time, Martin Barre. My opinion, sorry. I'm in love with Hendrix and that Zepp band and Pete and John McGlocklin (spelling) and the rest, sorry. But Martin takes the cake.Saw the man 11 or 12 times with Tull, oh oh oh myyyy!!!

@willicat441 Ian is not only a great composer, lyricist, musician and performer. He is an artist and poet. He says, he is somewhere in between a Deist (believes a supreme being created the universe but does not intervene. There are no prophecies or miracles and god exists without religion) and a Pantheist (the universe/nature and God are identical). This knowledge gives some insight to his complex lyrics. It is a shame that the critics misunderstood him. I agree with you, he is a genius.

@marktull Dude, you speak with the most understanding of Ian's words........thank you. I have been so inspired to hear the out pouring of love for one of the greatest examples of classic progressive rock ever. Songs come to Ian out of the blue. Both hauntingly simple melodies, and endlessly complex passages! History will prove his longevity. People love melody, and musicians admire ambitiousness. Genius.

Why didn't Anderson explore Hinduism a little more, England certainly did by enslaving India as a colony for 150 years : ) - there's enough intellectual content and spiritual practice to keep a man engaged for a long time, not so much of the take-or-leave quality of John 3:16 - but Anderson's a bit of a melancholy Norseman at heart, he seems to prefer Ragnarok to Nirvana (not talking about bands here) - as a result his music has always been a little down-in-the-mouth...

Life is indeed random, in it's defiance of any formula that discounts the random influences of individuals that must be accounted for but seldom are. On a much finer focus the proclivities of individuals at any given moment within the range of their "catch moment" must be added to any calculation moment, It sounds impossibly complex but the more successful of us do it several time a day inherently. .

Hey this is a great song musically, but I think it marks a change in Anderson's view of faith/God! Maybe in Aqualung and even A Passion Play he was searching his beliefs, but here he is emphatic: Why do the faithful have such a will to believe in something, and call it the name they choose having chosen nothing! In other words there is no God! The "faithfull" simply worship "the God of their own invention" Some fool- some Grand Court Jester...this album marks the end of their great sound! Sorry
