I saw them here at the Fillmore East on their next appearance when they added John Evans on keyboards for the Benefit tour. Unusual two group billing had Cactus open for Jethro Tull and both of them were brilliant. Cactus with Rusty Day, Carmine Appice, Tim Bogert and Jim McCarthy got called back for 2 encores! Then Tull came out and topped it, they played the unknown at the time "My God" and blew everyone away, what a show!

What makes this performance doubly mind-blowing is that heavy rock was in its infancy -- there was nothing like this before. They were making it up as they went along.

Raw, mean and utterly compelling. IA at his crazed best. Yet to find his own style erh? Cpt Beefheart meets Zapa meets Howlin Woolf meets Fagin!. What a frontman though. At the time he was easily the most electric and watchable front man about. Jagger? who? The eerie, badly played and improvised flute was/ is magic!! 45 years old and still stunning......

Strange, Soundman was struggling with feedback, I saw them in 71 or 2 in Chicago and the soundman was struggling there too. BUt great to see this! thank you

Shame that the sound quality is so extremely crappy when Ian and Tull's performance is so high quality.
