Much has been written about the "Beatles more popular than Jesus" controversy, so I'll let the documentary speak for itself.

This much is true: This episode in the Beatles' career could have destroyed the band, but it didn't. They got through it, and they remain the most popular and influential Rock & Roll group of all time. Beatles 4-ever!

Lennon just pointed out a fact. He wasn't bashing anything. Christianity IS shrinking, less and less people believe in God and churches are closing everywhere. Here in Europe, that is an obvious truth, I can't speak about other parts of the world. And still, to this day, when I look around, I see more people who love the beatles then people who go to church or even believe in Jesus. He wasn't saying that it's a good thing, he just said that's what's happening.

I think Tommy Charles would have hated what John Lennon said in later years.

You're not gonna find a bigger lifelong Beatles fan than me. BUT, even as a committed Atheist, I have to say John's comments were reckless and arrogant. Ignorant, racist, inbred Southerners are an easy target, but Tommy Charles had a good point when he said what if the tables were turned and an American group went to the UK all bagging on the Royal family. I lived in the UK for a while and learned quickly to stay quiet about the Royals, who I found nonsensical and bizarre. That opinion was NOT very welcome in UK pubs.

Jesus was the illiterate kid abandoned by his father to be murdered by a mob over a dispute about some stolen fruit. If you believe in him you will never have to worry about fruit again. Otherwise fuck you for eternity, of course if you become a believer you can be forgiven even if you are a serial killer raping and mutilating children if you accept jesus before death you to can embrace an eternity of joy and forget all about that incident with the fruit.

This speaks volumes about the madness and arrogance of religious delusion and the sham of American society which hasn't changed. The ugliness is still there. The horror, it's 2013 and it's still there. People are in need of change, outward change but more importantly change within themselves. We don't deserve a future as we are. John Lennon and The Beatles represent a good thing, people have to be able to tell the difference between good+bad. There's a difference between mud and shoeshine.

This episode turns my stomach it is a deep ugly black mark on US history. It is a shame on America +a clue that the 'great' US isn't in reality all it's been said to be. In years to come many more will come to know America as something completely other than what they were sold on. The disillusionment is great and it's where we are know. The Beatles and John Lennon will go on and represent something good. The US on the other hand is being realized as a sham +must change or go the way of the USSR.

Some arrogant delusional Alabaman religious DJs found they had the right, being so morally superior and holier than thou, to attack John Lennon and The Beatles, giving them shit for providing the world with so much pleasure. The kids weren't waiting for heaven they were enjoying life in the here and know, this is a sin. Alabama, famous for the KKK, civil rights abuse, conflict and atrocities, attacked the Beatles, famous for changing the world for the better. +Dj's, famous only for this shit.

both side exercising freedom of expression. He had the right to say what he said and the public had the right to break records and use their freedom of speech. SIMPLE.

Lennon and Harrison made their mistakes and were fooled to jump to idealistic ideas (peace and religion of east offering something better). Paul and Ringo were much more down on earth guys. And in real life guys of Beatles were surely not the best examples of peace. John and Paul had their vicious behavior. Besides chauvinism is one of the basic elements of pop music and whole that culture. They hardly so much respected women, just used them. That's why John need Yoko - a new mother for him.
