------------ISSUES------------

AV-desync (native+YouTube)

Invalid audio sync-blocks

I spent 2 days trying to repair these:

1. Demuxed MP2 and M1V from MPEG VCD with Avidemux. http://avidemux.sourceforge.net

2. Replaced invalid MP2 frames with adjacent (mostly) valid ones losslessly with MPGEDIT. http://www.mpgedit.org/mpgedit/index.html

3. Demuxed seperate channels from "stereo" MP2 and muxed back as mono MP2 losslessly with mp2chextm (mp2chext was n/a). http://home.pages.at/kassandro/mp2chextm

4. Muxed mono MP2 and M1V in Matroska container with MKVtoolnix. http://www.bunkus.org/videotools/mkvtoolnix

* At this stage I had a video with removed high pitched squeeks (invalid frames) and ~20MiBs shaved off by removing unnecessary (personally) right channel.

5. Tried to fix progressive (to say the least) AV-desync by removing/adding "VHS-silent" MP2 frames a.k.a. hissy fits on numerous track segments.

6. Realized that it was all in vain and impossible in a sane time window. Even mere demuxing/muxing the original messes up the sync. Pretty pissed off.

7. Resolved to basic editing, cutting the original in three chunks, of course without re-encoding.

8. Uploaded to YouTube introducing additional AV-desync, usually correctable, in this case no point.

Thus, somewhat original squeaking JDVTC-experience is offered to you. Congrats! -_-

Karen Carpenter had an amazing voice. Even on the recording equipment of 40 years ago, it was crisp and clear.

The final part of KNXT legendary anchor Jerry Dunphy's 1972 in-depth interview with the Carpenters in their Los Angeles area home.In the early 1970's...the CARPENTERS were on top of the world!

I remember seeing this show on Saturday evenings at 7:30 p.m. on CBS in the early '70s. Thank you very much for posting this.

"There are some people who think we're so square, they don't believe how we can exist!" Maybe so, but their stuff still sounds great.

this new englander lived on the desert in the late 60's and always loved watching jerry. "from the desert to the sea..." something i will always remember, it's part of me. Los Angeles was blessed to have had him and his nightly news casts.

I remember Mr. Dunphy's show (on which he interviewed various celebs at their homes) airing in New York City on WCBS-TV (sister station to Dunphy's then-base, KNXT now KCBS-TV) in 1971-72, I have to look into when this particular installment was shown.

This was a real treat to see. I don't understand all of the technical stuff, but I wonder how far off your video is compared to how it looked on TV in the early 70's? This is the most 'personal' interview I've seen with the Carpenters and their parents. Harold was such a regular guy. This is also a lot like an early version of the TV show CRIBS.
