"Oh Jenny. You have been hurt. You have been hurt by somebody that much is clear. Who hurt you? Who hurt you?"

Seen her a couple times in KC, these recordings do not do her voice the credit it deserves!

The awkward moment when this song gives you awkward images of Kristen Russo and Jenny Owen Youngs together... aha. Wishing you all the best in your marriage guys!

Sing it Jenny... if you like girls thats plenty fine.. I like girls too, the fact I'm a guy and you are a girl should mean nothing to nobody.. your songs make me smile.. your live show makes my wallet feel like it did something useful.. please sing forever

Had no idea she came out but hey good for.you girl you are amazing either way I love your songs I saw you lube at the revival tour as a sort of admirer and left iove with you.. you dominated the crowd including chirping some obnoxious kids up front.. go jenny of you could come back for the revival tour 2014 that would be great we never seem to get the rise against guy or tom gabel but you are a blessing in disguise

I think the reason everyone's focusing on her coming out is because of the way she did it. If you read her letter, you would see that she was hesitant in coming out (not because she was in denial) because of how she would be thought of in the music industry. Everyone talking about it is probably just to show her that everyone is still behind her and in full support of her no matter what! Which i think is really cool because she rocks whether she likes girls or guys or fucking plants!!

well she gives advice to thousands of teens and adults and co-host a website called everyoneisgay (among other things going to schools and cities and giving advice through video, calls, and text) so same thing as feeding thousands of homeless dogs and saving lives?

I see what you're saying (minus the drastic misrepresentation of bisexuality), but from the essay she wrote, I gathered that she's not been in denial so much as hiding it from the general public because she was afraid of the possible altered perception of her music.

Proofing: "I'm really NOT all queer..."

I find this business about "coming out" rather amusing. It suggests that no one knew, no one had a clue, no idea, if you will, that someone was just a little "different" from the rest of us, i.e., no history of going steady, for starters. Just something there to question. I think I'm getting at this point. That "coming out" is self denial in the same manner as claiming to be "bisexual." "I'm all really all queer. Look, I date girls." So the "coming out" is really "coming out of denial."

She's recently "come out" as being gay. But many wonder what's the deal? Folk has always been a forward looking idiom. So what's the big deal? Woody Guthrie, Leadbelly, The Seegers, Odetta, Josh White, Joan Baez, Dylan, and a host of other forwarding thinking people. So she's gay in a well educated medium. The point of "coming out" is?

It's funny you should say this because she came out of the closet today.
