Gotta say... this version is awful. The musicians, particularly Lucas, are competing with the voice, crowding it with unnecessary or overly showy parts that do not complement the centerpiece of the music which is Jeff. This song came a long way!

haha I kind of dig Jeff Buckley's long hair back in early 1991. Gary Lucas is awesome.

Jeff did this better on his own. Band was good but Jeff is like - Marc Bolan, freakin amazing. The band should've been secondary/back up to the singer vs competing with him. Ego's were obvious with Gary Lucas right in front like that, that's why he lost him.

Totally agree with you, no use trying to compete with Jeff! makes ye kinda understand why Jeff left Gods and Monsters band....Gary is a great guitarist though, but, it's just that buckley was sooooo talented in every way!

No use for Gary to compete with a god/ angelic being such as Jeff and a Jeff knew. He is totally still when he goes on his rant but always in the end gracious. Thanks for posting a rare video of beautiful Jeff.

So glad Jeff branched out on his own. No disrespect to Lucas' guitar playing, but it feels like its competing with rather than accompanying Jeff's other worldly vocals. The two just dont gel for me. It's like the pairing of peas & bananas, both good on their own, but together an odd fit.
