@Boontoon this an an old german military song for fallen soldiers, the text is from Ludwig Uhland 1809, Friedrich Silcher composed the music in 1825. This is the french Version of it. If you want to know how sounds the german version, just search for: Ich hatt einen Kameraden an today this song is played in many countries on military funerals. Greetings from Germany =)
