I guess party counts too. It's also used as the official word for the Kwanzaa, an African- American celebration. Kwanzaa and most of the words used for different things are based on Swahili. 'Kwanza' in Swahili means 'first' and Kwanzaa refers to the ' first fruits' which in Swahili is 'matunda ya kwanza'.
