"In more than a name, a faith, a creed. Falling in love with Jesus brought the change in me."This song is fundamentally teaching legalism. God's word again and again says "believe". Jesus says "unless you take up your cross and follow me" (allegiance). Or regarding faith, Hebrews 11 "faith is the confidence in things hoped for", "without faith it is impossible to please God". Its clear that Jason didn't pay much attention to creeds because they teach beautiful truths about who God is and the great love he has bestowed upon us. "Falling in love with Jesus" doesn't bring the change in you, the mighty work of the Holy Spirit in all who BELIEVE is what brings change. This song essentially says "There are too many rules for me to be good. Forget all of those rules and just follow 1 rule - fall in love with Jesus." That's legalism folks. This generation of American Christians' problem is NOT stuffy boring religion with no passion. It is a bunch of passion over anything and everything EXCEPT Jesus. People may say they are passionate about "Jesus" but they don't even know who Jesus is. In order to know WHO Jesus is you need faith, the Bible, creeds, belief.And what "name" is he talking about in the opening line of my post? It sure seems like he's referring to the name that is above all other names. This song is an excellent representation of where we are as a Christian culture in America.

This song could not be more off of God's word. If you compare the lyrics to this song and King David's Psalm 119 you will see the vast difference. Where David took full responsibility of his relationship with God, (free will) this song's tells God that he will have to come down and make him (the singer) feel something before he gives his allegiance. How Devilish. We MAKE God's word and will our delight, we run to his statutes by our free will obedience and Love for Him.
