Playing my J-84 again...using the Neck pickup only to try to emulate that P-bass sound.

This one is for Brian R. C'mon man, let Martha have a listen!

UPDATE: Oops! I played the verses wrong. Please see my video response for the correction.

You just showed everyone how good you are at bass, but this is not a lesson. The title's misleading.

@zumazmusic thanks for the advice.

@simmonseen - it is basically a chromatic descent after the low E starting with Eb (on the A string), to D, then (a high Db lick on the G string).

@MrNathan791 - Speed is something that will come to you with practice. Playing the part SLOWLY will help you play it faster. Persistence and hard work is the key my friend.

@129barry - There are so many! Let's see...lately I have been listening to the Brand New Heavies "Heavy Rhyme Experience." I love the feel and tone of Andrew's lines.

Feeling is Paramount i agree. keep up the good work. love jamiroqaui bass lines esp stuart zenders. got any other recommendations my friend?

@129barry - No problem man. Constructive criticism is welcomed. I did post a video response to address a slight issue. If you are talking about position or hand placement, I don't really take that in to consideration. Players often change their own bass lines just to keep it exciting. FEEL IS PARAMOUNT!!! I firmly believe that ONLY a performance that is EXACTLY what appeared on a record should NOT be the end goal. The record is a moment in time. Create your OWN moment!!!

@GiantPandas - I think there were DR Lo Riders on this bass. Honestly, I don't remember exactly. No effects for sure, though! There might be some very minimal compression but that's all.

Thank You 000021864, I always try to get as much as I can without eq or effects. This bass has a real nice breakup when you hit it without blowing the roof off the output level. Still, it requires control.
