who knew the depths of funk that have been buried in this song all these years? leave it to JT to excavate it. bravo.

why does he do it so much higher than the album version? I don't really feel like it works in this key

*Holiday Music*It seems like people either absolutely love or hate holiday music and there is very little inbetween. There is in fact really good holiday music out there, no really, it just isn't typically what is being blared at you in the grocery store. Today I am listening to and loving James Taylor at Christmas. Mellow, jazzy and a little country I really love this relaxed Christmas album. Below is his rendition of Jingle Bells. One of the most overplayed Christmas songs, his version is definitely not traditional in fact you wouldn't recognize it as Jingle Bells but it definitely makes the song likeable again if you've burned out on it.My fav track on this CD is In The Bleak MidwinterJames Taylor - Jingle Bells

@Seaclam67 check out JT's "In the Bleak Midwinter" and "River" on his "At Christmast" CD (well suited to his 'sparse' folk style)+ arrngmt on 'Go Tell it On the Mountain' ~just beautiful ~ people pidgeon hole him, but if you've followed his work or seen him live over the past 4 decades, u can only wonder at his extraordinary ability to meld folk, jazz, funk r&r & blues~ I love traditional Christmas arrangements too, but when I need a jump start, THIS is the Christmas CD I can't live without!
