This performance is from a german TV show in the early eighties. Solotrombone Ole Holmquist (Sweden). Ole is still a member of the James Last orchestra. The guitarplayer,"Big" Jim Sullivan (England), was a member of the orchestra 1978-1987. The song "Music" was written by John Miles.

James Last was a genius musician. A mastermind - like a wizard made musical reconstructions with the bands. The instrumental arrangement productions and multi-colored melodies played by the Orchestra are eternally remembered master pieces. You are right but it is rare to see the high note trumpeters beeing able to do what they done 20 years ago - simple mechanics...But I would like to be half that good!!! Wonder how many high G´s (or higher) he has played in his life!!?? :)13 years ago

This is great music - both Ole and Derek. Man, if I could play the lead like Derek just once in my life, I would quit playing trumpet at once....but I cannot, so I keep on playing for fun!!! When Derek plays I get goosebumps. Keep playing all you trumptfolks!!!13 years ago
