Frank Sinatra,Dean Martin,Robert Mitchum And Elvis Presley Were Considered For The Moondoggie Role Frank Sinatra,Dean Martin And Robert Mitchum Were Too Old For The Role Elvis Presley Was In The Army At The Time So Columbia Executives Chosen James Darren. Robert Mitchum Turned Down The Role Of Moondoggie In The Movie Gidget Ironically He Felt He's Too Old Right Before James Darren Said Yes.

Star Trek DS9 brought me here. LOVED James Darren as Vic Fontaine and had to get more of his singing because it's amazing. Found out he was acting since the 600's. Found this movie and fell even harder! <3

I was 4'9" from high school to about my second year of college, when I had a growing streak~to 5'1"! I know about being called "Gidget", too, as I was a teen in the Sixties! I just wish I could have looked like Sandra Dee instead of more like Yvonne Craig because red hair just wasn't popular then~or curves for most of the Sixties.

Go old love songs(: I've always been short, but this song made me appreciate that I was. I even wanted so much to be Gidget (Sandra Dee) during the scene that introduces this song. I'm also in my mid-twenties, but I've always been old at heart(:

When I was a little kid I thought my sister was Gidget, until she told me that we lived in East Los Angeles, a distance from the beach and that Gidget was white not Mexican. I still loved Gidget and my sister, Mary.

They messed up the DVD reissue,by not publishing it in W-I-D-E Screen I've read!! My older sister's were ga ga over handsome Darren,I gave as a gift the 2 CD album reissue of him and Shelly Fabres, and TV bro Paul Peterson "Teenage Triangle/More T.T." to my oldest sis!! I enjoyed and was glad his 1966-67 "The Time Tunnel" series was finnaly released on DVD boxset a few years back!! Sally Field played her in 1965 TV series and has said she liked this series over "Flying Nun" later! Now on Ant.
