James is also a genius as an arranger, producer, band-leader and keyboardist (organist).

To fully appreciate his depth, one must hear his instrumentals.

Fat, greasy and lowdown. Produced way before there was a ban on trans fat and before people started counting calories.

I may be arguably Mr. Brown's greatest fan (at least I think so), but while he was the greatest entertainer in history and single-handedly invented funk, he was not a great organist. When he was 'on' he could hit some really funky solos, but when he was 'off' he would play the most God awful out of tune mess lol. He is 'on' here thankfully.

on 45 is the best way to hear jb,the 45s released on comp lps have had multiple overdubs n been digitally compressed, which is totally inferior 2 the original analogue 45s,the fact is all cds r sonically inferior, respected musicians have said this repeatedly in interviews, musical historys being abused by the businessmens greed, with consistent criminal overdubs most reissues r inferior, the fact is digital lps n 45s r a pointless carbon copy of a cd n a betrayal of trust that cant b justified,

Also listen to "The Impalas," " Soul." This is a group that took this same song and put lyrics over it back in the day.
