A small tribute to one of the best songs of all time. Written around 1983, but released in 1984 on the legendary Ample Destruction album: "The track 'The Crucifix' was actually going to be on the first e.p., but there was no suitable acoustic guitar available so the band left the song for 'Ample Destruction'."

I really love the guitar sound on this album, check out the great leads on this track! And check out the rest of their albums! Jag Panzer is very alive, allways amazing listeners and reinventing themselves with each next album. They still are getting better, and a new album is on the way!

The churches are Tintern abbey, Cleeve abbey and Kirkstall abbey.

This is the old recording of the song.

Unlike most of the older Iron Maiden and Mercyful Fate albums, this one has not aged gracefully at all. I can appreciate that it might have been great 30 years ago, but I'd much rather listen to Mechanized Warfare or Casting the Stones. It doesn't help that it had a relatively bad production (average for the early 80s).

I agree Th4shMET4L. I can't stand the metal that's out there. Especially when all they fuckin' do is scream and rip off death metal with their guitar riffing!!

It's only very recent when I discovered this album through nwobhm recommendations. Two words...Instant Classic. What I love about this is it does not sound thrashy, and instead keeps melody and atmosphere important (nothing against thrash btw). Sometimes thrash bands throw away the roots too much. Old metal rules the roost!

@blackeningpurehatred If we talk about band quality: Slipknot sucks. Shitty rap/distorted horrible music. If we talk about music genre: Slipknot are not Heavy Metal artists, but pop/rap/electronic music with guitars. That's why are they famous, 'cause they are not Heavy Metal music.

@gravefllame I am 100% with you about that bastard. This band is probably the most underrated heavy metal band ever. Sorry about whatever I said, keep fucking supporting metal!
