Several years ago, while doing some research about Jackie Wilson, I read that this song was recorded only a few days after his wife had left him .... and yeah, he got into this song.

RickGibbons,Mate i would only say to you man you need to sit in a jazz ot blues session "Octaves" have no definittion,it alll about the music lol.

Octaves can be measured, whereas the other stuff you talk about...cannot. I'm not taking anything away from Jackie, he was a great singer, I was just debunking a falsity.

"Octaves",mean nothing when the voice has a natural flow of sound and and tone.Art Garfunkal has been set as a vocal standard, but even he said that he would love the tones of Jackie wilson.

Jackie had quite a range for a popular music singer, but I don't think it was quite eight octaves...actually, I'm not even sure an eight octave vocal range is possible.
