Damn shame; so much to do, and so little time. He was a 'rocker'! Fine as heck too!

This was always his closing song at the Apollo. He would literally turn out the Apollo with this song. Jackie was a boxer that is one reason he is so light on his feet, as you can see the teenagers can't even keep up with him. At the Apollo when he took his jacket off the ladies would go crazy. he was truly a talented guy. A true full voice first tenor.

On this day in 1963 {March 31st} Jackie Wilson performed "Baby Workout" on the CBS-TV program 'The Ed Sullivan Show'*...At the time the song was at #6 on Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; exactly one week later on April 7th, 1963 it would peak at #5 {for 3 weeks} and spent 12 weeks on the Top 100...Then on May 5th, 1963 it reached #1 {for 3 weeks} on Billboard's R&B Singles chart...And on the same 'Sullivan' show he also performed "Night"; three years earlier on March 21st, 1960 it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart at position #90, seven weeks later on May 9th, 1960 it peaked at #4 {for 2 weeks} and spent 17 weeks on the Top 100...The very week "Night" peaked at #4 on the Top 100, the record's B-side, "Doggin' Around", was at #15 on the chart, and that was its peak position on the Top 100...* It was Mr. Wilson's four appearance on the 'Sullivan' show...

I thank Michael Jackson for introducing me to Jackie. No wonder Michael ruled, this guy was amazing. Great grooves, this stuff. I swear I was born a generation too late! But still, wouldn't trade getting to grow up a Michael Jackson fan. May he RIP as well as JW.
