Her version is incredible because she has minimal to no backing vocalists - look at both the timing as well as complexity of the lyrics nearly colliding esp. past the 2 minute mark as the song heads to wards it end. I have no idea how often she rehearsed before she recorded this studio version - it matters not - an outstanding song because of the truly strong and connected effort De Shannon made - brilliant.Another one i.e. Searchers vs De Shannon is Cilla Black's knock out of Bacharach's 'Anyone Who Had A Heart' over Dionne Warwick's. Black's grainy black and white 'night club' rendition is lights out outstanding esp. seeing the two women at the very end lighting up cigarettes in the rear.

Just realised she wrote when u walk in my room and man she could move. Her voice so like ate razors in a burger but so unique. Her covers were great hey women fighting men by doing oh boy .... in 70's she looks like olivia newton prior Grease. Under saluted lady that was VERY good singer

One of the best songwriters and performers in the sixties and far superior to most. There was always an intoxicating rhythm in her work. Compare this with Marianne Faithful performing "Come and Stay With Me" - different style and beat, but the rhythm is there.

Much better than The Searchers version AND the original recording. Liked many of her songs including "I Wanna Go Home" on the Edison International label from 1960. She was more celebrated for her songwriting skills than her singing. "You Won't Forget Me" is another underrated song.
