This song was originally written for the soldiers leaving for World War II, many of whom would never return but, it has transcended that era and became timeless. This is a great interpretation of it, as is the Sonny Til & the Orioles version in the mid-50s. Nobody could turn on the waterworks better than Jackie.

@akibasundown Take a ride by Broad & Dauphin, and you will find that the Uptown will never return-----sad.

All there is today are Rap A Dappers who can't hold a candle to the like's of Jackie. It's sickening listening to those idiots spitting out such garbage. Maybe some day they will awaken, and TRY, and perform the greatest sounding music to one's ear.

This takes me back to The Uptown. Remember seeing Jackie and The Starlites bring down the place with this song, Valerie and I found Out Too Late. I remember when they were the opening act and by the end of the week, they were closing the show.

One of my favorite doowop groups,,I read that he would have a soaked hankerchief inb his pocket and would pull it out during the climax of his songs,,he cried in most of them,,and would squeeze it as he wiped his eyes,,to appear that he was crying..I found out to late is my favorite,,and the obscure ,,you keep telling..I hope some post it..DZ from the Bean

I always loved this song of the 60's, even if Jackie still cried. Thanks for posting it.
