The full studio version of "Come Back" from their 1980 album, "Love Stinks." 'Come Back' is an interesting song from The J. Geils Band. Up until this album, most of their material was mainly rooted in Blues. Motown, Classic R&B, Doo-Wop and early Rock & Roll. This song has much more of a prominent Disco/Synthesized Pop sound to it. It was certainly hinting at the future because the New Wave sound was a sound that dominated mainstream Pop radio throughout the rest of the decade.

I'm really not the biggest fan of most electronic, heavily synthesized music. However, this is an extremely talented band when it's all said and done, and I feel that they did a good job with this particular sound. This song still has the instruments and the musical talent. Seth Justman, in my humble opinion, is one of the most underrated keyboardists ever.

The J. Geils Band has proved since their first album in 1970 that they can do just about any music and do it very well. This is better illustrated from their live shows which are epic in their excitement. Peter Wolf really knows how to work a crowd, and their musicianship is unbelievably tight when they are on stage. You really have to see it in order to fully believe it!

I forgot all about this fine song until I heard it on "Casey Kasem's American Top 40" (from March 22nd, 1980) this weekend. I can't believe it's been 35 years since I last heard this. Before this LP came out, J. Geils Band were mostly about soul, r&b & funk. When this LP came out in 1980, what a complete 360 this group did, & this new style proved successful for the group!Bravo, Peter Wolf & Co.!

at 2:12 is where the great instrumental starts :) It's like the exit of boogey and incoming of rock synth.

Holy christ I forgot how good that song is. That is the best song on the album. Remember, "Oh my god, that bowling ball, it's my wife."
