J.Cole situation is some what similar to Tupac's, but J.Cole knows to stay in place and not go against the oath. As you can see J.Cole and Kendrick Lamar are both tired of being apart of the secret oath, so that's why you can see that they both changed their whole persona. Their whole style is different and if you actually pay attention to the lyrics, you can hear the stories they are telling.

This song is saying how he joined, and then got out. His song "Work Out" was the song that the Devil gave him and it ruined his reputation as a Rapper. This whole song is written in present tense, like a story. When he says he's about to join Illuminati, he did in 2011. "Work Out" went double platinum, but it was not well received. He uses the example of Justin Timberlake's second album of how he changed, just like Work Out. At the end when he says his career was crashing and burning when he let the Devil steer him and now that he has his soul he isn't going to let go.
