There has been confusion about this song for quite some time. I have looked into it and this is what I've found. There are two distinct versions/mixes of this song. The original 2003 version and the 2008 Avalon version. This is: Anthony Green, Justin Shekoski, Scott Shriner & Dean Butterworth - I've Been Dying To Reach You. This original version was recorded in the fall of 2003 and was leaked onto the internet in the fall of 2004. Anthony was in Saosin when this was recorded. After Anthony's acoustic performance of this song from the Spin Acoustic Session in 2008, he talks about the song being written in John Feldmann's kitchen the day it was recorded and he said "it hasn't changed since the day that we wrote it". Which implies that Anthony didn't write it alone, at least not fully. So Feldmann likely had a hand in writing the instrumentation or the structure of the song. It is unclear if Justin, Scott and Dean wrote their respective parts or not. Though it does seem like Anthony wrote all of the lyrics. The re-recording on Anthony's first solo album, Avalon, which was released in 2008 is: Anthony Green, John Feldmann, Quinn Allman & Dean Butterworth - Dear Child (I've Been Dying To Reach You). Sometime between 2003 and 2008, John Feldmann re-recorded himself playing most of Justin's guitar parts and Scott's bass parts. They are slightly different. He also recorded additional parts that were not on the original 2003 recording. He recorded himself playing keyboard, percussion and singing additional vocals. He also recorded Quinn Allman playing guitar as he has an "Additional Guitar" credit in the liner notes of Avalon. Also, Scott Shriner has a "Additional Bass Assistance" credit on the 2008 Avalon version, whatever that means. I tend to think it means Shriners bass tracks were completely scrapped but Shriner taught Feldmann the bass part he wrote. But that's just speculation. But the original lead vocals and background vocal tracks that Anthony Green recorded in 2003, as well as, the drum parts Dean Butterworth recorded in 2003 are the same exact tracks on both versions.

All the people trying to say this is improperly titled are trippin. The version you're hearing in this came out long before Anthony Green was a solo artist and Avalon wasnt even close to existing and at the time he was with saosin.

I can see that being true, this song is a lot different from the rest of the songs on Avalon...it's like suddenly a Saosin song out of nowhere that's been toned down a bit. Throw on a faster, more complicated drum beat and some more gain on the guitars and it'd be a Saosin song.
