I would like to know what ever happened to Steve Dahl's version. Back in the days before google, that was the only version I knew.

Joel liked the song, it was Christie Brinkley that got it dropped.

People need to lighten up. This is a funny song.

Weird Al Yankovic must of been flat out broke in 80' if all he had was an accordion...

It's a satire of the way music was changing & Billy Joel was changing, trying to fit what was "in". After all the changes he tried to make to stay "in", Al says "It's Still Billy Joel To Me", no matter what style. People calm down please. It's not meant to offend. Al even parodied Billy Joel in Poodle Hat, on "Ode To A Superhero" a parody of "Piano Man", he got his permission so obviously Billy Joel's not as upset as some of you are about this song >.>

The major departure being Achy Breaky Song, which he reportedly felt bad about after meeting Billy Ray Cyrus, and chose to donate his profits from sales of the song to a charity of Billy Ray's choice.

I think this is the only Weird Al song where he actually makes fun of an artist... all of his other parodies are almost completely unrelated to the original song!

News flash: Weird Al makes fun of EVERYONE. If he didn't trash people, he wouldn't be much of a comedian now, would he? I'm a huge Billy fan and don't find this song offensive.

quack man

hahahaha I love his replacement of the rhyming 'shit' with 'junk."

Billy has a ton of class and a sense of humour, he did one line from this so-called song. Doesn't mean i don't hate it any less though.

lmfao. no no no. i was agreeing with you. I was talking about Weird Al. This is the first weird Al song that I actually hate because he seems so clueless. Just because I don't like him. hahah I get why you think that, do to how my reply looked. Billy Joel is a musical gift. I am having a laugh riot here that someone is trying to sell me on one of my all time fav musicians. Glad to meet another fan!

Yeah this is seriously reaching, would be funny if it was true. But it's not even close to being accurate.

I remember this tune from when I listened to Dr Demento back in the 70's

@thatmuse76 Hahahaha, I have this image of you seething over this comment for the past two years, swearing you'll get back at me, going through hours of Chuck Berry music to find the best way to phrase your comeback. Then finally, you decide that this is the best day, this day is right, the birds are singing and the angles chorus and yes, you decide, "My Ding-a-Ling" is the only subpar song Chuck Berry has done. Your work is done here, my friend. Rest easy.

@Aervane That's easy. All of them. Okay, maybe not "My Ding-A-Ling", but that's about it.
