What's interesting is Bobs hero besides Woody Guthrie was Buddy Holly, and Holly died Feb 1959. Exactly one year later Bob hitchhiked to New York city and started playing down in Greenwich village where Holly lived. Holly had an apartment on 5th avenue and 6th the Brevoort building" not more than 100 yards from the clubs and coffee shops where Dylan played for a year. Holly did the same thing when he was in town, so it is not likely, it is all but certain that if Holly lived he would have run across Bob. I drove a Yellow taxi in New York city in the 80s and 90s and picked a woman up from the Brevoort building around 1984 and she said she grew up there and was invited to a party over Hollys place and said he "had the amazing ability to make up a song on the spot" Meaning music, lyrics much like rappers you hear today.
